Hojlund: I am the happiest man alive

When Rasmus Hojlund's left-footed winner nestled in the back of the net against Aston Villa on Boxing Day, Old Trafford erupted.

The Denmark striker had opened his Premier League account after signing for the club in the summer, and both he and his team-mates celebrated passionately.

Hooking the ball beyond Emiliano Martinez, Rasmus completed our amazing comeback against in-form Villa, and ensured we marked our final home game of 2023 with three points.

Speaking to Amazon Prime after the game, alongside the impressive Alejandro Garnacho - who scored a brace to bring us level - Hojlund expressed his utter joy.

“It's been a while,” he said. “I am happy.

”Like the manager said, I’ve scored a couple in the Champions League, of course, but it’s been a while in the Premier League now.

“I’m happy to get the first one and can hopefully just build on that and keep going.

”I’m happy for the attackers as well today – we showed a lot of character and we showed a lot of confidence as well.“

“I am the happiest man alive. You can see with the celebrations.

”Like Garna [Garnacho] says, we believe until the end, and we showed a lot of character again today.“

Garnacho's second-half double brought the Reds back level from two goals down , after initially having an effort ruled out by Var, before Rasmus clinched the victory.
