Amorim voted Manager of the Month

Ruben Amorim has collected his first Premier League Manager of the Month award.

The Manchester United man beat off competition from Arsenal's Mikel Arteta, Aston Villa head coach Unai Emery and Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola to land the trophy.

A public vote was combined with those of a panel of football experts to decide the victor for October and, following three wins out of three, against Sunderland, Liverpool and Brighton & Hove Albion, Ruben came out on top.

Ruben was presented with his trophy at Carrington and was quick to praise the people around him for their part in ensuring he received the accolade.

“I'm really happy,” he told club media. “Not just for my staff, but also for my players.

”I think they deserve full credit for this award because, in the end, the manager that wins this kind of award is not the best team, but the team that performs maybe better during this month.

“So I just expect to win the next one because it is a sign we won football matches.”

Amorim becomes the sixth Portuguese boss to earn the award, following in the footsteps of ex-Red Jose Mourinho, Andre Villas-Boas, Nuno Espirito Santo, Bruno Lage and Vitor Pereira.

The last time a Reds manager came out on top was Erik ten Hag in November 2023.

Sir Alex Ferguson is way clear when it comes to individual wins, securing 21 trophies, with Arsene Wenger next best on 15.

Congratulations to Ruben from the entire staff at Manchester United!
