Marcus Rashford remains a doubt for Manchester United’s Premier League meeting with Burnley on Sunday.
With United securing a 2-0 win against the Spaniards, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer didn’t need to call upon Marcus’s services as the forward continues to overcome a foot injury.
The boss was thrilled that he managed to rest our no.10 on Thursday and was asked in his pre-match press conference whether Rashford will have recovered in time to take on Burnley.
“[It’s a] big bonus that he didn’t have to put any pressure on his foot [against Granada], yes. I have got to hope he can be available and not make it worse, that is the decision I have got to make, so fingers crossed.
“He wasn’t due to be on the bench really, he didn’t train yesterday [Wednesday] but, just in case, he put his hand up and said if needed, I could do a job. So it is a decision I have got to make on Sunday morning. But he is important for us. It is a difficult one. You have to go by how Marcus feels in a couple of days.”
In Marcus’s absence on Thursday, Ole started with an attacking foursome of Mason Greenwood, Bruno Fernandes, Paul Pogba and Edinson Cavani, while Daniel James and Juan Mata were among those introduced off the bench.
Should Marcus feature against Burnley, it will be his 49th appearance of the season to date, meaning he has missed just three games so far in 2020/21.
The 23-year-old, who scored his 20th goal of the season in the away victory over Granada, sat out the second leg of the quarter-final as well as the home game against AC Milan in the previous round.
Marcus was also unavailable for the Emirates FA Cup quarter-final with Leicester City last month but has not missed a single Premier League game this term.
The boss has also revealed he hopes Eric Bailly will be in contention to return against Sean Dyche's men, although Axel Tuanzebe's display at the heart of the defence against Granada will also give him food for thought.
Those suspended on Thursday - Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay - are all available again but Anthony Martial is still sidelined by the knee injury that is threatening to keep him out for the remainder of the campaign.
