Ole: Everything has to be spot on in the top games

Ole Gunner Solskjaer has given an insight into how he believes Manchester United can beat our in-form local rivals Manchester City.

The Reds boss has a good record against Pep Guardiola and we beat City three times last term. This season, both sides have built impressive sequences of results and only one of these will be intact when the derby ends on Sunday evening.

It will be City’s 21-game winning streak against United’s unbeaten away league record, which stretches back over a year.

Ole remains confident ahead of the clash and hopes the strategy he plans to implement will keep our undefeated run going.

“You have to attack and you have to defend at your absolute highest level,” he told reporters in the second half of Friday’s press conference. “There are fine margins. There’s dumb luck at times. There are tactical little tweaks you can make.

“The heart will stop sometimes when you just defend all the time. In some of the wins we’ve had, when we have had some great attacks and created some great counter-attacking opportunities, they have also had great chances.

“We know in this 95, 100 minutes, whatever it will be, we have to be on the front foot, we have to defend high and press at times. You have to be really good at defending low at times.

“Sometimes you have to be really good at breaking and counter-attacking quickly, circulate the ball really quickly and keep it at times. To win a game of football against a top team, every player has to be spot on.

“You may have to be lucky at times and the decisions you make [are important]. You can make the right or wrong decision with a shot. Everything has to be spot on in the top games.”
