Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has praised Edinson Cavani for his role in Cristiano Ronaldo re-taking the iconic no.7 shirt at Old Trafford.
Cavani wore the no.7 shirt throughout his successful debut season at United and the incredibly popular striker began this campaign with it too, during his substitute appearance at Wolves.
However, after Daniel James was sold to Leeds United on transfer deadline day, the no.21 shirt was suddenly available and El Matador graciously took it on so that Ronaldo could therefore wear seven.
In case you didn’t already know, Edi wears that squad number for his beloved Uruguay.
Cavani’s show of humility was rightly appreciated by Cristiano and Reds supporters around the world also paid tribute to his generosity, by inundating our social media accounts with words of praise.
“Edinson has been remarkable,”praised Solskjaer. “Cristiano spoke with Edinson and they spoke to each other. And to pass on his shirt just shows the respect he’s got for Cristiano, but also Cristiano speaking to Edinson shows the respect the other way. Two top, top professionals and players.”
Both Cavani and Ronaldo hope to feature against the Magpies on Saturday.
