United v Leeds: What's the team news?

Lisandro Martinez is in contention to return for Manchester United, when we host Leeds United on Monday evening.

Martinez has been out of action since the 1-1 draw at West Ham in February, missing the five subsequent outings due to a calf injury.

The Argentina international has been training with the group, in the Republic of Ireland and now back at Carrington, and with Harry Maguire suspended for the clash with the Whites, he may be drafted back into the line-up.

Michael Carrick says it’s a selection that will be made with both Monday’s challenge and future games in mind.

“It’s just that call we make,” Carrick told reporters.

“We wouldn’t be pushed into anything. It’s important that the boys are ready, as important as the next game always is, the most important is always the bigger picture.

“So, that’s a decision that we’ll take. He’s back training, which is great, and back on the grass, but we’ve certainly got to make the right decision and make sure he’s ready.”

Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu travelled to County Kildare last week and continued his individual work on the grass with our fitness coaches.

Matthijs de Ligt is still conducting his rehabilitation and recovery at base, as he seeks to make a return from the back issue that has kept him out since late November.

“Treatment and rehab,” Carrick replied, when asked what De Ligt’s current workload looked like.

“The reason he didn’t come [to Ireland] is he’s not quite on the grass. Patrick came back because he’s further on, but Matta isn’t quite at this stage yet.

“So it was important for him to continue his rehab, really, and try and get him back. There’s nothing else around it.”

Diogo Dalot missed the trip to Ireland due to illness, but should be fine to feature.

Farke provides Leeds team news update

LEEDS TEAM NEWS

Daniel Farke has already held his pre-match press conference, on Thursday.

The Whites have an Emirates FA Cup semi-final to look forward to, but the last-eight victory over West Ham did have repercussions.

Anton Stach and Joe Rodon picked up ankle injuries at the London Stadium and will definitely have to sit out of Monday's clash, while there will be no reunion for former Reds winger Daniel James, who has a muscle problem.

Jaka Bijol, Noah Okafor and Gabi Gudmundsson are all doubts, but have the weekend to boost their recovery efforts.

“So if you would play the game already tomorrow [Friday], then all three wouldn't be available,” Farke said.

“We have a bit more time and I am hopeful that I have all three of them also ready.”
