Team news for Spurs showdown

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has explained why he feels the injury situation has been so much better this season, in advance of Saturday's lunchtime kick-off against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Reds face another game on the road, this time in north London, on the back of the 2-2 draw at Nottingham Forest that extended our unbeaten run to four matches.

After losing four times to Spurs last season, including in the UEFA Europa League final, the 12:30 GMT kick-off presents the perfect opportunity to right some wrongs and head into another international break in a positive frame of mind.

Lisandro Martinez is continuing to push closer to a first-team return, after being sidelined since early February.

Fellow central defender Harry Maguire was back on the bench at The City Ground and has trained this week at Carrington, ensuring Martinez was the only first-teamer unavailable last time out.

It has certainly been a very encouraging situation regarding the squad's availability, thus far, in 2025/26.

“No, there’s no change [to what we are doing about injuries],” Ruben told reporters on Thursday afternoon.

“It’s one game every week and then a little bit of luck, because sometimes you have problems with players with knocks, it’s not something that is soft tissues.

”So you never know what is going to happen in the next training. If you play with intensity in training, something can happen, but I think the big reason… of course, we try to do everything well, the big reason is [we have only] one game every week.

“You can give one extra day to the players that you know could struggle in the next training. I think that is the biggest reason.”

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR'S TEAM NEWS

Spurs beat FC Copenhagen 4-0, despite having Brennan Johnson sent off, in their UEFA Champions League home win on Tuesday night.

Brennan's suspension only applies to Europe but the hosts do have some concerns over Mohammed Kudus, despite the winger suggesting after the game he will be able to shrug off the knock them kept him out of action.

Destiny Udogie, Cristian Romero and Wilson Odobert were all okay to start against the Danes, but Lucas Bergvall was missing due to the concussion protocols.

Yves Bissouma, Ben Davies, Radu Dragusin, Archie Gray, Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison, Dominic Solanke and Kota Takai are all expected to remain absent this weekend.
