Lisandro Martinez was not involved in the Manchester United squad to face Everton on Monday night.
Licha has started every one of our last nine Premier League matches, since the Boxing Day victory over Newcastle United at Old Trafford, when he captained the side.
The Reds were unbeaten in each of those contests, but the Argentina defender could not feature on our first visit to Hill Dickinson Stadium, due to injury.
He was replaced by Leny Yoro, with Jack Moorhouse taking the spot on the bench vacated by the Frenchman.
Michael Carrick explained the decision to Sky Sports before kick-off on Merseyside.
“Yeah, unfortunately he just picked up something during the week,”
he said.
“It doesn’t seem too bad at all, but we’re just kind of working through that at the moment, so he’s not available tonight.
“He’s obviously done well Licha, for us, and it’s disappointing. But Leny came in and did particularly well at West Ham so Leny comes in and we’ll try and move forward.”
Martinez joins Matthijs de Ligt, Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu and Mason Mount on the injury list, ahead of Sunday’s Old Trafford clash with Crystal Palace.
