Busy weekend for United ahead of first break

Friday 29 August 2025 08:00

There are four Manchester United matches we will be covering across a busy weekend, before the first international break of the season begins.

First in action are Darren Fletcher's Under-18s, who have made an impressive start to the Academy campaign. The youngsters are away to Derby County in the league, with a 12:00 BST kick-off time on Saturday afternoon.

The game at Derby's Training Centre at Moor Farm is not being covered live, but we will be providing match details afterwards on the United App and ManUtd.com.

Ruben Amorim's side then take on Burnley at Old Trafford, in the traditional 15:00 BST slot.

Although the Premier League fixture is not being broadcast live in the UK, you can follow every kick via our live commentary service. Build-up on MUTV to the game begins at 13:55 BST, including the all-important team news as the Reds look to get a first win on the board this term.

Following the Carabao Cup exit to Grimsby Town, it is hoped the home fans can help lift the side to gain three points that would move us up the table.

A third game of the day is a big one for United Women, who take on Hammarby in their native Sweden.

A dramatic 5-4 victory over Metalist Kharkiv booked the Scandinavians' place in the second round of the UEFA Champions League qualifying phase.

Marc Skinner's side had eased past PSV Eindhoven with a 4-0 triumph, as Elisabeth Terland bagged a hat-trick, and have remained in Stockholm in a bid to achieve the goal of moving into the third round of qualifying.

That would involve a two-legged tie, with the victors progressing to the league phase of the competition.

The Hammarby tie is live on MUTV, getting under way at 18:00 BST.

The action does not stop there, though, as the Under-21s have a Manchester derby against City to look forward to on Sunday.

The Premier League 2 clash starts at 13:00 BST and MUTV are providing live coverage from Leigh Sports Village.

Travis Binnion's team have two wins out of two in the division in 2025/26 and it is all set up for an entertaining encounter against Blues.

Fans are encouraged to attend and support the young Reds in the mini-derby. Tickets are available here.

While there is an international break to follow, remember the transfer deadline is at 19:00 BST on Monday, so, for all clubs, there could be a busy start to next week.
