Celebrate United's Lionesses with free gift

Wednesday 04 October 2023 19:30

Our first digital collectible of the season spotlighting United Women has dropped ahead of the team’s opening home game against Arsenal on Friday night.

The unique design, which you can claim in the 48 hours before the game kicks off at 19:30 BST, features our three returning England World Cup stars: Mary Earps, Ella Toone and Katie Zelem.

It celebrates the trio’s return to home action following their contribution to the Lionesses’ run to the final in August, as well as their continued influence for the Reds.

Earps was awarded the Golden Glove for her performances across the tournament in Australia, where she kept three clean sheets and superbly saved Jenni Hermoso's penalty in the final defeat to Spain as England’s Euro 2022 winners narrowly missed out on a second major trophy in as many years.

Toone’s starting berth in midfield in the Sydney final was her sixth appearance of the tournament and she scored the opener in the 3-1 semi-final win over the host nation, while Zelem made two outings Down Under, including the 6-1 group-stage demolition of China.

All three players have been instrumental in United Women’s rise over the last five years and helped Marc Skinner’s side finish second in 2023/24 to secure Champions League football for the first time.

Club captain Zelem has been here since the start of the team’s journey, graduating from our Academy and guiding the Reds to promotion at the end of the inaugural 2018/19 season.

Toone is a born-and-bred Red and her explosive running from midfield, allied to her goalscoring ability, have made her a real fans’ favourite, which was only enhanced by her entertaining guest appearance on our podcast back in March.

Earps has developed into the world’s best goalkeeper during her four years in Manchester and notched 14 Women’s Super League clean sheets in 2022/23 to scoop the domestic Golden Glove.

The trio all played the full 90 minutes in last weekend’s season opener as United came from a goal down to beat Aston Villa 2-1 in stoppage time and will likely be involved again as the Gunners come to town on Friday.

This season you can collect a free piece of digital memorabilia before each home men's and women's match in the league and Europe.
