Fresh from her hat-trick of Manchester United awards for 2023/24, Ella Toone has been nominated for a prestigious national prize - the Barclays Women's Super League Goal of the Season.

Voting is now open here and our fans are encouraged to back the Reds' no.7, whose stunning match-winning strike away to Leicester City has made the shortlist of eight, alongside entries from players including Rachel Daly (Aston Villa), Vivianne Miedema (Arsenal) and Bunny Shaw (Manchester City).

As well as securing three WSL points for Marc Skinner's side at the King Power Stadium, Toone's sublime effort later landed her the WSL Goal of the Month award for April.

Is this Ella Toone's best strike in a United shirt? It's been shortlisted for the WSL's April Goal of the Month award...

At that stage, it was a red-hot favourite for the club's Goal of the Season accolade but of course, Ella went on to top it with her tremendous opener against Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley Stadium as the Reds won the Adobe Women's FA Cup final.

Her triumph in that supporters' poll was confirmed last Saturday, when the England Lionesses midfielder was also crowned the club's Player of the Year - another fan-voted award.

Ella's third accolade at the end of an impressive individual campaign, the Players' Player of the Year, was shared with defender Maya Le Tissier after the pair picked up the same number of nods from their United team-mates.

When asked after the Leicester game what it meant to score such a goal, Ella told club media: "It means a lot. The girls dug deep and I knew my job was to come on and change the game and try to get the girls a goal. That's what I did and it was a decent finish.

"Sometimes, when you strike a ball and you know you've hit it clean, you know it's going in. To be fair, their keeper got very close to it but, luckily, it went in the back of the net."

As the Reds' very own goalkeeper came into earshot during the pitchside interview, Ella added cheekily, "Mary [Earps] wouldn't have saved it either!"

What a term for Toone!
