World Cup: Which shirts will our Lionesses wear?

Monday 03 July 2023 17:30

Manchester United trio Ella Toone, Mary Earps and Katie Zelem now know which shirts they will wear at the 2023 Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

England's squad numbers were revealed earlier today (Monday) as the Lionesses continue to prepare for the eagerly awaited competition.

Earps, Toone and Zelem have all been selected by coach Sarina Wiegman, while Reds team-mate Maya Le Tissier remains on the standby list, where she has now been joined by former United midfielder Lucy Staniforth.

Earps, who captained her nation in the 0-0 warm-up draw with Portugal on Saturday, has been given England's no.1 shirt.

Toone will wear the no.10 while Zelem, our club captain, is listed as the Lionesses' no.20 for the tournament.

Le Tissier will be issued with a number if she is called up from the standby list.

England's next game will be a behind-closed-doors friendly with Canada on 14 July - and then it's all systems go for the World Cup.

The Lionesses' campaign will get under way in just under three weeks' time, on Saturday 22 July, when Wiegman's side are due to lock horns with Haiti.

Earps, Toone and Zelem are among eight Reds who are currently set to take part, and we'll be following all of them on ManUtd.com and the United App.
