Bailly posts an update on his head injury

Manchester United defender Eric Bailly has provided a positive update on the head injury that he sustained during Sunday’s Emirates FA Cup semi-final.

The Ivory Coast international started the match at Wembley Stadium as part of a back three, but unfortunately had to leave the field shortly before the half-time break.

Having already collided with Blues defender Kurt Zouma, Bailly then clashed heads with team-mate Harry Maguire and required medical attention straight away.
Eric was taken off the pitch on a stretcher and it was later confirmed that he went straight to hospital for further tests, following all of the protocols in place for such an incident.

United fans around the world have been understandably concerned about Bailly’s welfare and, in an effort to reassure supporters, the centre-back posted a personal update on social media.

“Thank you for all the messages of support,” Bailly writes in a post for Twitter and Instagram.

“I am ok, it was just a scare. I feel the pain of yesterday's defeat even more. But we have to get back up and refocus on the two big games we have this week.”

After such an injury, Bailly is presumably a doubt for United’s penultimate match of the Premier League season, against West Ham at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could provide more details on Eric's condition and availability on Tuesday morning when he holds a press conference to preview that important game.

As always, the manager’s media briefing will be able to watch via MUTV, and our Official App, so make sure you tune in from 10:30 BST for the latest team news and pre-match opinions.
