Confidence is growing after three successive wins for Manchester United in all competitions, which have provided momentum and a fresh injection of belief going into this weekend’s derby test.
Erik ten Hag’s side welcome Manchester City to Old Trafford for Sunday's 15:30 BST kick-off, in what is always one of the biggest fixtures in the Premier League calendar.

In January this year, City took the lead on the hour mark through Jack Grealish but United refused to surrender and, roared on by our fervent support, turned the game around through a quickfire double burst by Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford.

BRUNO SPARKS COMEBACK, 14 JANUARY 2023
City looked set to complete a league double over us when Grealish headed home but United refused to lie down and equalised through Fernandes, who ran on to a defence-splitting pass from Casemiro to curl home. Rashford had initially chased the ball but wisely decided to leave the ball to his skipper, though it still took a consultation between the officials before Old Trafford could celebrate.
RASHFORD BRINGS THE HOUSE DOWN, 14 JANUARY 2023
Just four minutes after Fernandes's equaliser, substitute Alejandro Garnacho charged down the left and, at the second attempt, he delivered a cross for Rashford to fire past Ederson and complete the 2-1 turnaround, sparking pandemonium inside Old Trafford. It was the most recent and arguably most memorable of Marcus’s five strikes against City, perhaps matched only by his first effort in 2016 – more on that below.
MARTIAL VOLLEYS HOME, 8 MARCH 2020
In what proved to be the final league game before the COVID-19 pandemic, Fernandes caught City napping on the half-hour mark as he lifted a free-kick over their flat-footed defensive line for Martial to volley in the opening goal of the game; Ederson was unable to keep it out despite getting a glove to the ball. In added time, Scott McTominay’s audacious first-time finish from Ederson’s loose clearance secured the 2-0 victory that kept us in the hunt for the top four.
MARCUS MARKS HIS DERBY DEBUT, 20 MARCH 2016
In his breakthrough season, an 18-year-old Rashford stunned the Etihad with a superb first-half strike that turned out to be the only goal of the game. Our Academy product collected an incisive through-ball from Juan Mata, skipped past Martin Demichelis and slotted confidently beyond Joe Hart to ensure his first taste of a Manchester derby was one to savour.
