How does our 2025/26 festive period look?
Manchester United's festive schedule for the end of the year is taking shape, now the Premier League fixtures have been released.
Ruben Amorim's Reds know our final game before Christmas will be away to Aston Villa, the side we met on the last day of the 2024/25 campaign.
Skipper Bruno Fernandes has previously netted four times at Villa Park and he should then be leading the side for two home games to round out the calendar year.
Guide to the opening weekend
ArticleThe 2025/2026 season kicks off at Anfield before our exciting home start on the Sunday.
As things stand, there is currently no Boxing Day fixture, with that falling on a Friday, although that is, of course, subject to change when the TV schedule is announced.
This information should be published by Wednesday 15 October, according to the Premier League, and they have already confirmed some matches will switch to the traditional date for live broadcast.
It has also been stated that no club will be requested to play less than 48 hours between gameweeks 18 and 19 and each team has a home fixture on either 27 December or 3 January, to reduce travel.
As a result, on 27 December, we are pencilled in to face Newcastle United at Old Trafford and the Magpies have become regular opponents around this time of year.
They were our Boxing-Day rivals in 2012, 2014 and 2019, while we also drew 1-1 at St James' Park on 27 December 2021, with Edinson Cavani scoring our goal.
Even last year, the Tynesiders were our final opponents of 2024, winning 2-0 at Old Trafford on 30 December.
Wolves have also been scheduled to play the Reds a number of times recently around this winter spell, and our home clash with new boy Matheus Cunha's former club is currently slated for Tuesday 30 December.
Hence, our final assignment of the year is against the men from Molineux, following on from 2020 and 2022, when this was also the case.
Furthermore, Vitor Pereira's side were our Boxing Day opponents last season.
At least there is a real freshness about the start to the new year, with a trip to newly promoted Leeds United first on the agenda on the opening weekend of 2026.
