Garcia: We are ready for Stamford Bridge battle

Manchester United Women winger Lucia Garcia believes that if the Reds stick together and retain our principles, we have every chance of defeating reigning Women's Super League champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this weekend.

Marc Skinner's side travel to the iconic stadium for a 12:30 GMT kick-off on Sunday, looking to gain a positive result against the side who pipped us to the title last term.

Ahead of the match, Garcia expressed her pride at playing at Stamford Bridge, while maintaining that the Reds are prepared for the "fight" that awaits.

Garcia: We need to just be us

Lucia Garcia says the Reds are ready mentally and physically for Sunday's WSL clash with Chelsea...

"It's good that we are going to play at this stadium," she told club media.

"We are so happy for that. It is going to be a tough match but we have to be ready to fight for that match.

"We need just to be us. Just to work as hard and work hard for each other.

"I think it is going to be a tough match but we are ready for this kind of match. We have been working for two years. I think we are ready, mentally and physically, to beat them."

United entered the winter break in fourth position in the WSL table, eight points adrift of the Blues.

Despite this, Garcia has faith the Reds can recapture the form that saw us push Emma Hayes's side all the way last season.

"I think we just need to be us," she said. "We need to stick together when the things are not going in the way we want.

"These kind of moments are where we have to be together as a team."
