Who was our Man of the Match against Milan?

Thursday 11 March 2021 21:22

Manchester United new boy Amad has been voted our Man of the Match against AC Milan, after scoring his first goal for the club.

The winger came on at half-time for Anthony Martial, and within minutes had put us ahead with a clever improvisational header after latching onto Bruno Fernandes's astute aerial pass.

Unfortunately, United were unable to hold onto our 1-0 advantage  Simon Kjaer equalised for the Rossoneri in injury time  but Amad can console himself slightly due to a huge victory in our Man of the Match poll.
The Ivorian delivered several bright moments in his 45-minute appearance  just his third game for the club  causing Milan problems with his direct dribbling and technical close control of the ball. His efforts earned him an impressive 51 per cent of the vote.

Second in our poll was the always-influential Fernandes, who garnered 21 per cent. The Portuguese proved a decisive performer once again for the Reds by setting up Amad, and the playmaker could and perhaps should have nabbed a second assist, after supplying a deft flick-on from a corner that found Harry Maguire free at the back post in the first half. Sadly the skipper was unable to turn the ball home.
In third was Dean Henderson, who was just seconds away from a sixth consecutive clean sheet for United before Kjaer powered home in stoppage time. Fourth was Scott McTominay, who was typically aggressive and assertive against some imposing Milan midfielders.

MAN OF THE MATCH: THE TOP FOUR

Amad - 51 per cent
Bruno - 21 per cent
Henderson - 8 per cent
McTominay - 5 per cent

Congratulations, Amad, and thanks to everyone who voted.
