Man Utd Foundation celebrates 17th anniversary
Today, on 13 March, Manchester United Foundation is celebrating its 17th anniversary, and in celebration, the charity has officially launched its TikTok channel.
Seventeen years ago, Manchester United hosted a European XI at Old Trafford, which boasted names including Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Andrea Pirlo. This fixture marked the launch of Manchester United Foundation – and the club’s associated charity continues to make a huge impact across Greater Manchester and beyond.
The Foundation was established as a lasting tribute to the Busby Babes; honouring their legacy by nurturing and developing the talents of young people.
John Shiels, CEO, said: “It has been amazing to be a part of the past 17 years, which we look back on with great appreciation and gratitude. During that time, I know the Foundation has changed the lives of thousands of children and young people for the better. I am so proud to be a part of a Manchester United family that is so caring, thoughtful and community-focused.”
In celebration of the anniversary, the Foundation has launched on TikTok, with the aim of providing another online avenue through which to positively engage with young people.
Through TikTok, the Foundation hopes to interact with a new audience of Manchester United fans and supporters of the charity's work.
As a young people's charity, the Foundation wishes to communicate to this younger audience through fresh content, that will excite, entertain and educate users. Content will be player and participant-led, so audiences can aspire and relate to what they see.
