Women's FA Cup: United to face Chelsea in semi-final

Tuesday 12 March 2024 08:42

Manchester United Women will face Chelsea at home in the semi-finals of the Adobe Women's FA Cup.

The Reds, of course, were edged by Chelsea in last season's final at Wembley and will have to eliminate the Blues at the penultimate stage this time to reach the iconic stadium for a second successive year.

Marc Skinner's side cruised into the last four with a commanding 4-0 triumph at Brighton on Saturday, thanks to finishes from Millie Turner, Nikita Parris, Lucia Garcia and Lisa Naalsund.

We defeated Newcastle United and Southampton convincingly in the competition this term, before Saturday's clash with the Seagulls, and the last-four clash with Chelsea is set to be another tough test for the Reds.

Emma Hayes's side beat Everton away on Sunday in their quarter-final tie and, with their manager departing for the USA national team in the summer, the FA Cup holders will no doubt want to emulate their success of last year.

United are the side that can thwart them, and Skinner's team will want to avenge last season's final to set up a clash with either Tottenham Hotspur or Leicester City, who will play one another in their first-ever FA Cup semi-finals.

Semi-final ties will be played on the weekend of 13/14 April, with kick-off times, TV channels and ticket information to be confirmed in due course.
