Manchester derby: United Women’s form players

Saturday 18 November 2023 11:30

Manchester United Women could hardly be in better form going into this weekend’s highly anticipated derby against Manchester City.

Marc Skinner’s unbeaten side are scoring plenty of goals – 12 in the last two games, in fact – and conceding few at the other end, keeping clean sheets in three of the last four outings in league and cup.

So there’s plenty of excitement and confidence in the camp that the Reds can follow up May’s historic first Women’s Super League win over the Blues with another three points on Sunday, when Old Trafford's WSL attendance record is set to be broken.

Hayley Ladd, who fired a superb opener in that triumph last season, is one of the players featured in our new digital collectible to mark the occasion, which you can claim now by visiting collectibles.manutd.com.

“You can feel the energy everyone is building towards the weekend, I think everyone is feeling confident and ready to go,” the midfielder told us.

“Our performances have all been good enough recently and we just want to emulate those and put that onto the pitch on Sunday.”

Ladd also netted the opener in the 7-0 Conti Cup win over Everton earlier this month and Skinner will be pleased to see so many of his players getting among the goals.

Among the Reds’ nine different scorers in the last three games were Lucia Garcia and Leah Galton, two other players to feature in this week’s collectible design.

"Games against City are always exciting, and then games at Old Trafford are always exciting as well," Galton said.

"We go full throttle into every match we play, but because it’s ‘Manchester versus Manchester’, it gives both teams that extra fight and they are usually a little bit more physical than other games.

"Hopefully it will be another good game with lots of goals, and we can take the three points again.”
