Skinner: We have to stick together

Friday 14 February 2025 12:15

Marc Skinner has laid down the gauntlet to his Manchester United Women squad ahead of yet another crucial WSL home clash.

The Reds are set to go toe-to-toe with Crystal Palace on Sunday as we look to continue our unbeaten run in the league, so far, in 2025.

Last weekend's 6-0 win over Wolves in the Adobe Women's FA Cup provides quite the appetite for even more entertainment in less than 48 hours' time.

Skinner was asked about the Eagles' visit as he addressed the media on Friday, insisting full focus has to be on trying to catch runaway leaders Chelsea.

Marc Skinner fields questions on Mared Griffiths, Phallon Tullis-Joyce and more ahead of Sunday's WSL clash...

"I totally agree," began Marc, when asked if the aim remains the same, to catch Chelsea, and if it is a mark of the progress made this term.

"More importantly, about the markers, they may not be a marker specifically but, for the team, it is much more about the performance.

"There is no-one in the team that doesn't want the three points at the end of the game but what we have to stress is we don't get those unless you earn them.
"Especially in this league, you drop your intensity levels for one second and the team that you are playing are in.

"It is becoming more difficult but it is more important for us that, between now and the end of the season, between all the difficulties that we face, the good times and the bad times, we have to stick together and look at the performances to try to get those points."

United emerged victorious in our previous meeting with Palace, back in December, as Grace Clinton's first-half strike proved the difference between the two sides.

Clinton will be hoping to be included again, after returning from injury last weekend, with her goal tally for the season standing at four thus far.

A reminder that Sunday's game is set to be broadcast live on MUTV and you can watch along, with coverage starting at 11:45 GMT.
