Amorim and Mount speak in Malaysia
PRESS CONFERENCE | Ruben Amorim and Mason Mount speak to the media in Malaysia, before our first post-season friendly...
PLEASED TO SEE OUR SUPPORTERS
"For us, it's amazing to see, even in a difficult season, how many fans this club has. It's our duty to be here, it's a pleasure. They're outside and following this club for so many years and, for us, it's really important to have that connection. It's what makes this club one of the best in the world so we're pleased to be here."
WE ARE REALLY ALIVE
"The biggest positive was in the last game of a really tough season, the feeling in the stadium is a club that is really alive and believes we can change things. Then, for some people, it's hard to see or understand but I think we're improving as a team. We have a lack of goals that punishes us in a lot of games but we are improving in certain aspects. A positive is that feeling in the stadium with our fans, who believe we can overcome everything. That's the beginning of something."
NEXT SEASON
"The target next season, I will not tell you now. The important thing is to win the first game, then we'll see. We have a lot to do this summer and we have to prepare the team. People will expect us to be on the top at Man United but I don't want to think about a big target. I have to say that for us not to be in the Champions League could be an advantage, to perform well and prepare better the games. To build that core we need for the future. So I think it's good for us to take advantage of not having European games."
FERNANDES IS REALLY IMPORTANT TO US
"You can see by his performance, the leadership and passion he has for the game. You can see that in the last game, I felt the team was without pressure and performed quite well. We had difficult moments but you can see Bruno took responsibility. He should because he's the captain and has his experience. He's really important for us."
BACKING IN MALAYSIA
"I expect always the maximum from our fans, they're incredible. You can feel the passion at Old Trafford and here is the same. No matter the region, the passion is amazing. I expect a big party - they expect us to win and perform."
WHAT LIES AHEAD
"I'm excited, I'm nervous. I want to work to the next season. I have a clear feeling I need to close the season but now it's a new season, so I'm excited. I don't need rest. I just need to prepare for the new season."
SCOURING THE GLOBE
"We want the best players in the world. If I see someone [from the All-Stars] with value, he could be in our list! No matter the region, you all have space if you can perform and you are one of the best in the world!"
