Shirt numbers update
The Manchester United squad picture will look a little clearer when we move into July on Tuesday.
The three players whose contracts are not being renewed - Jonny Evans, Victor Lindelof and Christian Eriksen - will officially depart, leaving their shirt numbers up for grabs.
Evans took on the no.35 when returning for his second stint at his boyhood club, after previously wearing no.6, so this is one slot that is available to be filled.
Fellow defender Lindelof has had no.2 on his back since joining the Reds from Benfica in 2017.
Traditionally associated with a full-back, there may be some options in this regard if that particular route is explored.
Eriksen bids farewell to United
Christian Eriksen credits the importance of our fans in his closing words as a Red...
Midfielder Eriksen will vacate the no.14 jersey, one that has also been associated with the likes of Andrei Kanchelskis, Jesse Lingard and Javier Hernandez, among others, in the past.
Tom Heaton's new contract would appear to suggest he is likely to retain the no.22 position in the 2025/26 squad, when Ruben Amorim's men get under way again.
Another spot that is currently free is the no.19, last held by now-retired central defender Raphael Varane.
Matheus Cunha is the only confirmed new arrival so far, ahead of the campaign, and the former Wolves striker has yet to be allocated his shirt at his new club.
Stay in touch with any developments over the squad slots as we count down to the first game of pre-season, against Leeds United in Stockholm on Saturday 19 July.
