Manchester United are hosting a four-team tournament at Under-18s level at the AJ Bell Stadium.

The Academy has invited Arsenal, Flamengo and Porto to the innovative event on Friday and Saturday.

THE FORMAT

It is a round-robin tournament for players born on or after 1 September 2001. On Friday, United face Brazilian side Flamengo and Porto, with Arsenal also meeting the two overseas clubs.

On Saturday, Portuguese outfit Porto take on Flamengo before United come up against the Gunners. The third/fourth-placed play-off and final are scheduled for the afternoon.

The matches are 25 minutes each way, with a five-minute break for half-time. Up to six substitutions are allowed per team.

In the final play-off round to decide the tournament standings, penalties will take place if the scores are level at full-time.

The event will have an intimate collaborative learning environment with the only spectators present being players' parents, guardians and carers, plus staff from Manchester United.

The coaches will hold a briefing session on Friday as there is an opportunity to share ideas and develop relationships in a number of areas.

As a result, the tournament will provide an excellent football and cultural experience for the players, whilst also enabling parents to engage with the wider Academy programme.

We will be providing a full round-up of the inaugural Manchester United Under-18s Summer Tournament on Monday.
