Shola Shoretire on the ball against Leicester City at Leigh Sports Village in Premier League 2

Watch live Academy games on MUTV this weekend

Manchester United fans can enjoy two live Academy games on MUTV this weekend, before following the first team’s bid for a third victory in eight days.

The Under-23s are up first in front of our cameras, playing in the popular Friday-night slot as Everton make the short trip from Merseyside to Leigh Sports Village.

The Premier League 2 fixture kicks off at 19:00 BST. MUTV’s exclusive coverage, including the team news and featuring former United winger Ben Thornley, begins 15 minutes beforehand.

Last time out in PL2, the Reds raced into a handsome 3-1 lead away to Arsenal at Borehamwood, with Arnau Puigmal firing home in only the third minute.

Shortly after the break, the Spanish midfielder grabbed his second goal and Durham-born striker Joe Hugill joined him on the scoresheet.

Even though the Gunners bounced back to square the game at 3-3, it was still a good point for Neil Wood’s side, who went into a fortnight’s hiatus on the back of another lively draw. Hugill netted both of United’s goals that day, at either end of the 2-2 tussle at Blackburn.

The Under-18s take a turn in the spotlight on Saturday, when Derby is the destination for Neil Ryan’s young Reds. Kick-off at Moor Farm Training Centre is scheduled for 12:00 BST; MUTV’s live coverage, with club legend Arthur Albiston in the commentary box, starts 15 minutes earlier.

County edged a seven-goal thriller when they were last at home, while United’s teenagers have netted eight times in three fixtures so far this term.

An entertaining affair is therefore in prospect, as the young players continue their development paths without the ‘must-win’ pressure that may await them in first-team football in the future.

MUTV is available on MUTV.com, or you can download the app on your phone or tablet on iOS and Android. Alternatively, you tune in on a bigger screen via Sky, Virgin, Apple TV, Amazon Fire, Xbox and Roku.
