When will the Reds play our rivals in 2023/24?
Manchester United fans will be checking some key dates in the newly released fixture list to see when Erik ten Hag's side are due to face our biggest rivals.
The Reds open the campaign with a Monday night clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford but it is not too long before neighbours Manchester City head to the Theatre of Dreams. Although we beat the Blues 2-1 in this game last term, they shaded the Emirates FA Cup final on their way to completing the Treble and are already installed as the bookmakers' favourites to win the 2023/24 title.
The home derby is scheduled for the weekend of 28/29 October, with the return provisionally slated for 2/3 March next year.
Revealed: 23/24 Premier League fixtures
ArticleThe Reds' league schedule for next season has been released.
Probably still the first games supporters look for on the list are the ones with Liverpool, with a trip to Anfield planned on or around Saturday 16 December. The winter encounter will provide a chance to set the record straight after the disappointing defeat on Merseyside on our last visit.
Of course, in the home game, a 2-1 triumph sealed a first win at the club for Ten Hag and the boss will be circling 6 April in his diary for when that traditional blockbuster is due to take place, as we will look to get one over Jurgen Klopp's men.
Our meetings with Arsenal, the only team other than City to finish above us last season, are to be staged at the beginning and end of the new campaign.
The Gunners provide the opposition in our final scheduled home clash of 2023/24, on 11 May, in addition to being our second match on the road, with an early September encounter planned for the Emirates Stadium trip.
Our opening away game is against Arsenal's north London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, due for the second weekend of the new term, in what will be Ange Postecoglu's first home match in charge of the club. The reverse fixture with Spurs is slotted in on Saturday 13 January, although this could move to a week later depending on the mid-season break lay-out.
Reds set for first Monday start since 2012
ArticleUnited have only opened our Premier League season on this day twice before.
Chelsea may have had a poor season by their standards last time around but should provide stiff competition under new boss Mauricio Pochettino. The former Spurs manager will welcome the Reds to Stamford Bridge in a midweek date on 6 December, and the journey to Stamford Bridge is also on a Wednesday, with 3 April pencilled in for that challenge in west London.
Of course, Newcastle United enjoyed a marvellous 2022/23 campaign to finish in fourth spot. The Magpies expect United at St James' Park on 2 December, while the Old Trafford clash between the two clubs is provisionally on 20 April, although that will be be postponed if either or both clubs manage to make the FA Cup semi-finals.
