The energetic full-back arrived at United in January 2026, already equipped with experience of playing in the top leagues of Spain, Sweden and the United States, despite being just 23 years old.
In her homeland, it was the second tier of the Swedish pyramid where her senior journey started with AIK and Hammarby, helping the latter secure promotion to the country’s premier division – the Damallsvenskan – for the 2021 season.
Lundkvist was a regular for Hammarby as the Stockholm club finished in mid-table upon their return to the top league, with her hard-working style and talent on the pitch spotted in the Spanish capital.
Atletico de Madrid came calling in December 2021 and it was during her time with Atleti that Hanna would earn her first cap for Sweden’s first team, against China in 2023.
An ankle injury meant she had to withdraw from her nation’s World Cup squad later that year, but her form at new club San Diego Wave – from February 2024 – meant she made her major-tournament debut at UEFA Euro 2025, playing every game in Sweden’s run to the quarter-finals.
At club level, the defender – capable of playing on both sides of the backline – won the NWSL Challenge Cup with San Diego and is now on the hunt for more silverware as part of Marc Skinner’s squad in Manchester.
