Jayde
Biography
Jayde Riviere signed her first professional contract when joining Manchester United in January 2023.
On a deal running until 2025, the full-back became the second Canadian to sign for our women’s team, linking up with compatriot Adriana Leon in Manchester. Having played youth football with the likes of Pickering SC, Markham SC and the Vancouver Whitecaps, Riviere went on to represent the Michigan Wolverines during her time at the University of Michigan. Prior to attending college, she had already made her senior debut on the international stage for Canada at just 16 years old, having previously featured for the nation at several younger levels. Jayde’s Canada debut came from the bench in a match against the United States, in which she would come on for future United team-mate Leon. She would go on to be part of the Canadian sides that achieved two silver CONCACAF medals (2018 and 2022) and a gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, as well as featuring at the 2019 Women’s World Cup. After her Michigan career came to an end in 2022, she spent a brief spell with AFC Ann Arbor in the USL W League before signing her first professional contract with United at the age of 21, on 21 January 2023. Upon joining the Reds, she said: “I am a huge Manchester United fan, so this is a dream come true for me to sign here.”
