Earlier this week we invited Season Ticket holders and Executive Club members to share their views on a key part of the Old Trafford matchday experience – the music!
Thanks to everyone who completed the survey, we received over 6,500 responses, of which over 40 per cent came from our supporters in the Stretford End.
KEY FINDINGS
Around 50 per cent of fans want music to be played in the final 15 minutes before kick-off, though around half of those supporters said we should not play it for the biggest games of the season, such as the Manchester derby. Forty per cent of fans said they don’t want any music played prior to kick-off, while 10 per cent of respondents don’t mind or don't have a view.
The playing of ‘Glory Glory Man United’ following a win proves to be popular among the fanbase, with over 50 per cent of respondents keen to keep it. A further eight per cent of fans want us to play music but to change to an alternative track, while only 24 per cent of fans would prefer no music to be played at all. Seventeen per cent said they don’t mind if we play music or not.
And after a draw or defeat, the clear preference is for no music to be played at all.
NEXT STEPS
With loyal matchgoers now having shared their views, we have incorporated your feedback and you can look forward to the following routine at Old Trafford men’s games:
- Players will choose the playlist during their warm-ups.
- Music will be played between the end of warm-ups and team walkout, except for specific high-profile games. We’ll communicate which games in advance.
- We will play This Is The One as normal as the Reds enter the pitch.
- Country Roads will continue to be played after mandatory competition anthems immediately prior to kick-off.
- No music will follow a draw or a defeat, but Glory Glory Man United will be played when we win.
We will continue to review our matchday plans and work with fans, fan groups and the players to ensure the experience is a positive one for all. The atmosphere at Old Trafford continues to make a huge difference to our teams, and we thank all fans for having their say on this matter.
