Mount absence explained

Michael Carrick has been asked why Mason Mount is not in the matchday squad for the visit of Fulham.

The Manchester United midfielder is absent for the clash against the Cottagers, although Joshua Zirkzee and Shea Lacey have returned to the fold.

Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu is sidelined after picking up an injury in the 3-2 win at Arsenal last weekend.

Thankfully, the problem with Mount is not thought to be a serious one.

Speaking to Sky Sports, in advance of our 14:00 GMT kick-off, head coach Carrick provided a positive bulletin.

“He took a bit of a knock in training,” said Carrick. “But it's nothing serious.

”We're disappointed he is not with us today but he'll be back very soon.“

Hence, the former Chelsea man misses out on a game against their neighbours Fulham, but will hopefully be back soon, with another opponent from the capital, in Tottenham Hotspur, next on the agenda.

The home match with Spurs kicks off at 12:30 GMT next Saturday.
