The date when the 2022/23 Premier League fixtures will be released has been confirmed.
There is, of course, still a month of action of the current term to play, with the 2021/22 campaign drawing to a close on Sunday 22 May.
Supporters will not have too long to wait before they can plan for next season, though. The Premier League has revealed that the 20 clubs' provisional schedules will be released on Thursday 16 June.
Next season will be different to usual, as the FIFA World Cup takes place in Qatar in the middle of the domestic calendar.
The Premier League season will begin a little earlier, on the weekend of 6 August 2022, following our confirmed Tour 2022 dates in Thailand and Australia. United have started each of the last five campaigns at Old Trafford, with Bournemouth being our last opening-day away trip back in August 2016.
Players will join up with their national sides for the World Cup from Monday 14 November, by which time 16 Premier League rounds will have been played – there is the usual international break in September, but not in October.
The Premier League is then set to resume on Boxing Day, eight days after the World Cup final on 18 December.
United did not have a Boxing Day fixture in 2021/22, playing at Newcastle on 27 December instead. The Magpies are common opponents for the Reds at this time of year, as we faced the north-east side the day after Christmas in 2012, 2014 and 2019.
The final match round of the 2022/23 campaign will be played on Sunday 28 May 2023, when all games will kick off simultaneously as usual.
United ended the 2019/20 and 2020/21 terms with visits to Leicester and Wolves respectively and another away game – this time at Crystal Palace – will complete the current campaign.
Be sure to jot down Thursday 16 June in your diary then: fixtures are always subject to change but that day will give us a real sense of how 2022/23 will map out.
