Ole gives updates on Edi and Marcus

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer provided an update on the fitness of Edinson Cavani and Marcus Rashford before the Manchester derby.

Cavani had appeared in each of United's four previous games, but suffered an issue during the week which meant he was ruled out of the clash with Pep Guardiola's side at Old Trafford, which ended in a 2-0 win to City.

The South American has not been named in Uruguay's latest international squad due to the fitness concerns.

Rashford went into the game in good form, having netted three goals since making his return from shoulder surgery last month, but Solskjaer revealed he had faced a race against time to be fit and could only play a small part.

Marcus was included on the bench, but replaced Mason Greenwood after 67 minutes.

United side to take on City confirmed

“We’ve had a couple of issues since Italy, Edi has been one of them,” Ole told MUTV before the game.

“Marcus was only clear this morning, he’s had a problem as well, but, luckily, he can be on the bench and, hopefully, come on if he needs to.”

Victor Lindelof was declared fit to play as he lined up alongside Eric Bailly and Harry Maguire as part of a back three, after missing the draw in Bergamo.

“He’s [Victor is] back. I always felt he was going to make it but you’re never sure,” added the Norwegian.

“[I’m] very pleased to have him back.”
