Ethan Galbraith is in contention to feature in Manchester United's Europa League round-of-32 tie against Real Sociedad.

The Reds approach the second leg at Old Trafford 4-0 up following last week's game in Turin but manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has pledged to select a similar squad to those on duty in Italy.

Hence, Amad and Shola Shoretire will be involved again but the boss has suggested there is also be a place in the matchday squad for Galbraith.

The Northern Ireland international has been added to the club's B list for the competition and may make his first competitive senior appearance since his debut in the defeat to Astana in the same competition in 2019.

A midfielder who is comfortable in possession, the homegrown talent is a regular in Neil Wood's Under-23s side and signed a new contract last October.

Galbraith played in our only pre-season friendly last summer, at Aston Villa, and has scored a couple of penalties in the Premier League 2, including a last-minute winner in the victory over Everton last October.

Much of his best work comes in the engine room where he has developed into a reliable operator who protects the ball well.

The 19-year-old has also been filling in at centre-back for the Under-23s recently, a role he first performed in a friendly against Benfica as part of the Academy's trip to Portugal before the COVID-19 pandemic took hold last year.

Ole confirmed in his club media interview that Galbraith is in the squad and it will be interesting to see the team when it is announced later this evening.
