Monday 18 September 2023 07:00

Manchester United will be looking to bounce back in midweek when our UEFA Champions League campaign begins.

On Wednesday (20 September), Erik ten Hag's men will begin our European schedule in Germany, where we will face Bayern Munich in Group A of the competition.

A few days later, we will have the chance to get back to winning ways in the Premier League with another trip, this time to Burnley.

With those games and much more awaiting the club over the next week, here are the key fixtures, events and anniversaries for fans to look out for…

MONDAY

We’ll begin the week by previewing our trip to Bayern Munich, as well as bringing you a brand new film in the MUTV Originals' One Love series. Keep The Red Flag Flying High will tell the story of the Manchester Munich Memorial Foundation, a charity founded in 2017 to ensure the Busby Babes' legacy is preserved for future generations.

Also dropping today is a fresh edition of the UTD Podcast, in which our trio of presenters - Helen Evans, Sam Homewood and ex-Reds defender David May - talk about their favourite episodes so far.

We'll also be wishing a very happy birthday to legendary goalkeeper Alex Stepney, who turns 81. Stepney was between the sticks for the Reds when we became the first English club to win the European Cup.

TUESDAY

On Tuesday, our travelling squad for the Bayern game will be revealed, a fresh batch of training images will drop, and Erik ten Hag and one of his players will speak to the media in the pre-match press conference.

There is also plenty to look back on, as we relive Dimitar Berbatov’s hat-trick against Liverpool in 2010, Diogo Dalot’s club debut back in 2018, and Donny van de Beek’s first start and goal for the Reds in 2020.

WEDNESDAY

It's matchday in the UEFA Champions League, and before our senior team take on Bayern Munich in the evening, our Under-18s will face their German counterparts in the Youth League earleir in the day.

We will have exclusive build-up, live radio commentary and post-match reaction from the senior clash on MUTV, ManUtd.com and the United App.

Wednesday is also the anniversary of the late, great Dennis Viollet being born in 1933, and our memorable 4-3 victory over Manchester City in 2009.
