Why Darmian and Fred are not in the Tour 2019 squad

The Manchester United travelling squad for Tour 2019 was announced on Sunday morning with two first-team players - Matteo Darmian and Fred - missing from the group.

The club has already confirmed that both players are not travelling to Perth, Australia, due to family reasons.

Darmian and Fred will each link up with the squad at a later date. 

In case you didn’t know, this is the group that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has selected… 

Goalkeepers: David De Gea, Lee Grant, Joel Pereira, Sergio Romero.

Matteo Darmian and Fred are not in the initial travelling squad for family reasons.
Defenders: Diogo Dalot, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Eric Bailly, Phil Jones, Victor Lindelof, Marcos Rojo, Chris Smalling, Axel Tuanzebe, Luke Shaw, Ashley Young.

Midfielders: Tahith Chong, James Garner, Angel Gomes, Daniel James, Jesse Lingard, Nemanja Matic, Juan Mata, Scott McTominay, Andreas Pereira, Paul Pogba.

Forwards: Mason Greenwood, Romelu Lukaku, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford.

Solskjaer and the squad will board a flight from Manchester Airport to Perth, Australia, on Sunday afternoon to officially begin Tour 2019. The team will play the following fixtures over the summer.

13 July: United v Perth Glory (12:00 BST)
17 July: United v Leeds United (12:00 BST)
20 July: United v Internazionale (12:30 BST)
25 July: Tottenham Hotspur v United (12:30 BST)
30 July: Kristiansund v United (19:00 BST)
3 Aug: United v AC Milan (17:30 BST)
