United's January transfers: The full round-up

Tuesday 02 February 2021 13:02

It may have been a quieter winter transfer window for most clubs but there were still a number of comings and goings at Manchester United.

Only one signing was made, and that was the arrival of Amad Diallo from Atalanta, after the deal was set up just before the summer's deadline, with the teenager scoring twice on his first appearance for the club, in the Under-23s' 6-3 win at Liverpool on Saturday.

Two players returned to the Aon Training Complex after their loans were ended - Matej Kovar (Swindon Town) and Dylan Levitt (Charlton Athletic).

The MUTV pundits were impressed with our new man’s showing against Liverpool Under-23s and can’t wait to see more…

The only transfer between Premier League clubs involving the Reds was Jesse Lingard's loan to West Ham United for the remainder of the season. The midfielder has been reunited with our former manager David Moyes at the London Stadium.

Other members of the first-team squad to move on were Tim Fosu-Mensah, who joined Bayer Leverkusen on a permanent basis, and Odion Ighalo, whose loan from Shanghai Greenland Shenhua expired.

Marcos Rojo finalised his transfer to Boca Juniors on Tuesday; the Argentinian window shuts later in February so it was able to be processed after Monday night's English deadline.

Most of the deals were of a temporary nature, with James Garner and Tahith Chong changing clubs but remaining out on loan. Garner's time with Watford was halted so he could switch to Championship rivals Nottingham Forest instead and winger Chong moved from Germany, with Werder Bremen, to Belgium's Club Brugge.

Young defenders Ethan Laird (MK Dons) and Teden Mengi (Derby County) made their first temporary moves away from United, as did Facundo Pellistri, who will gain first-team experience at Alaves in Spain.

Confirmed: Rojo leaves United

Marcos has departed for a club in his native Argentina, after seven years with the Reds.

Three of Neil Wood's Under-23s squad made permanent exits with Italian defender Luca Ercolani joining Carpi in his native Italy, Lukasz Bejger also returning to his homeland with Polish side Slask Wroclaw and Max Haygarth earning a contract with Brentford, after impressing with the Londoners.

Young keeper Jacob Carney headed to Northern Irish side Portadown on loan and Di'Shon Bernard extended his stay with Salford City.

We would like to wish all concerned the best of luck with their moves.
