Bruno reacts to viral Fletcher clip

Bruno Fernandes has reacted to a viral clip featuring new Under-18s lead coach Darren Fletcher in our latest Lifeblood film.

The Manchester United captain posted on Instagram after we shared a snippet of Fletcher’s first speech to the new group of scholars.

Fletcher came through at United in the early 2000s, becoming the club’s 164th Academy graduate, before winning every major trophy in a 13-year Old Trafford career. Later spells at Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion preceded a 2020 return to Carrington in a variety of coaching and management roles.

His new position as Under-18s coach will allow him to impart key advice gained from a stellar career, as well as his experience as a parent of Academy players, with his twin sons Jack and Tyler having played for the team last season. And Bruno thinks it’s the perfect match.

After watching Fletcher’s captivating talk to the dozen scholars who were inducted into the Academy in a special Old Trafford ceremony at the end of June, Fernandes posted this message on his Instagram story:

“Top class as a person and a well-deserved new role that suits him and will bring loads of success to the youth of the club.”
