Introducing: The Devils

They’re here! Reds, it’s time to meet The Devils - Manchester United’s second digital collectible drop.

Since the club was formed, they’ve been living behind the scenes at Old Trafford; off the blood, sweat and tears that have soaked into the pitch. Now, they’re here to give their holders special rewards, exclusive benefits and access to the heart of the club.

United’s digital collectible journey - powered by Tezos and brought to you by Tezos ecosystems - is moving to the next level! It’s time to unleash the Devils.

DEVILS? WHAT ARE THEY?

The Devils are 7,777 unique digital collectibles created using Web3 technology, powered by the club’s official blockchain, Tezos. No two Devils are the same. Get one and it will be 100% unique, with its own traits and characteristics, forever tracked on the blockchain. Best of all,  each one gives its holder access to an extensive range of club benefits.

WHAT KIND OF REWARDS AND BENEFITS?

First and foremost, owning a Devil means you own an exclusive piece of Manchester United memorabilia. This is the club’s first edition of The Devils, an iconic item in any sports fan’s collection. And in the world of Web3, joining a project from the start brings with it a privileged status among the community.

But, aside from being a member of a special group, there are some very real benefits and rewards that owners of The Devils can expect:

  • Exclusive airdrops: These will be future free collectibles and giveaways, as well as invitations to physical events at the club.
  • Devil surprises: Because each Devil is unique, with its own specific traits, it can connect with the action on the pitch. For example, if your Devil holds a trident and one of our players scores a hattrick, get ready to be rewarded!
  • Access to premium Ask Me Anythings (AMAs) – gain entry to new gated areas of the club’s official Discord server and connect with legends at digital events, only for Devil holders.
  • Private competition entries: Win match tickets, entry to a corporate box, a spot at our end-of-season Player of the Year awards. You could even step foot on the Old Trafford pitch (news coming soon…)

But the Devils are more than just digital collectibles. They will become your Web3 identity inside Manchester United and beyond.
  • WHAT DO THE DEVILS LOOK LIKE?

Inspired by big names, and big moments, from United’s past, The Devils collections features dozens of references - from iconic celebrations to flags and emblems - that make up our rich history. But your Devil is also personal to you. It connects with your experience as a fan, and helps you make new memories with United.

While all 7,777 Devils are different, the collection comes in three distinct colours:

  • Red: these are the most common and will form the core of our Devil army, all clad in the colour of our iconic home shirt.
  • Green: these are rarer than Reds and take their inspiration from this season’s third kit.
  • Blue: inspired by this season’s goalkeeper jersey and the colour of United's shirts in the 1968 European Cup final, these Devils are rare.

There are even rumours swirling around Old Trafford about super rare, gold and black Devils. We’ll need to wait until the full collection is revealed to see if one makes the journey from below the turf.

As with the club’s first digital collectible release - The Keys - rarer Devils will bestow even greater gifts on their holders. Capture a gold and black Devil and there are some big things coming…

HOW TO GET YOUR DEVIL FIRST

The Devils are powered by Tezos blockchain technology. You’ll need to create your own Tezos-friendly digital wallet to store yours when they go on sale - create one for free here.

Holding Manchester United’s first digital collectible - The Key - unlocks early access to the queue, putting you first in line to buy your Devil. The Key was the starting point for fans’ Web3 journey with Manchester United

The Devils will be released in three phases, with each phase giving certain Key holders the opportunity to buy one:

Phase 1 - 21 December: Rare and Ultra Rare Key holders
Phase 2 - 22 December: Classic Key holders (if any Devils remain)
Phase 3 - 23 December: non-Key holders (if any Devils remain)

Each Devil costs £30, or the equivalent amount in Tezos XTZ tokens, and fans can buy as many as they want. The Devils won’t hang around for long, though. With only 7,777 of them living under the Old Trafford pitch, and more than 750,000 Keys claimed, they may all find a new home very soon.
