George Best leads the way in the latest issue of the club's monthly magazine Inside United, which is on sale today (Tuesday).

Best adorns the front cover of the July edition and features prominently in the mag's centrepiece feature 'Red Idols', in which eight writers choose personal hero figures and explain just why they capture the imagination and embody the essence of Manchester United to them.

The legendary Northern Irishman is described as "the original otherworldly spirit, a man who played the game of football, and the game of life, by his own rules" by writer and journalist Luke Bainbridge, and figuring alongside Georgie in the feature are Bryan Robson, Eric Cantona, Duncan Edwards, Roy Keane, Paul Scholes, Denis Irwin and Stuart Pearson (keep an eye out on ManUtd.com for extracts from 'Red Idols', coming soon).
Luke Bainbridge says

"Best was the original otherworldly spirit - a man who played the game of football, and the game of life, by his own rules."

Elsewhere, Diogo Dalot looks back upon his maiden year as a United player in an exclusive one-on-one interview.

The Portuguese youngster reflects on what he describes as "a very good season to settle in, start to know the club, know the league, know the atmosphere", and also singles out United's supporters for praise.

"Something that probably surprised me the most when I came over here was the fans, when they go to away games," he says. "It’s unbelievable."

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also features, while there are farewells to Antonio Valencia and Ander Herrera, plus the story of United Women's triumphant season in the FA Women's Championship.

Inside United is on sale now at newsagents and the Old Trafford Megastore, and you can buy copies or subscribe here.
