Shoretire set to play for Under-23s

Friday 19 March 2021 09:02

Shola Shoretire is set to be involved when Manchester United's Under-23s are away to Tottenham, live on MUTV at 12:00 GMT.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer explained that the 17-year-old was left out of the trip to Milan in order to get more minutes under his belt in Premier League 2.

The forward played in our last outing at this level, a 0-0 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion when Will Fish was sent off early on and is, consequently, believed to be suspended.

Recap how United fared in our last Under-23s game, against Brighton.

United announced new contracts for Hannibal and Anthony Elanga this week and they are working hard to get back to fitness after injury.

Fish's absence will add to the lack of centre-backs at the moment, although Max Taylor is available and Ethan Galbraith has slotted into the defence in the past, while Alvaro Fernandez has also shown his versatility by switching to the middle in the FA Youth Cup.

Matej Kovar was outstanding in goal against the Seagulls and he will hope to impress again when Neil Wood's side take on a talented Spurs side.

Tottenham are currently fourth in the Premier League 2 table, a point ahead of the Reds.

Watch the game live on MUTV with kick-off at 12:00 GMT.
